Bri + Liam

California Yacht Club, Marina del Rey Wedding

What a beautiful, fun wedding to kick off the year. We were so happy to see Brianna and Liam again, after meeting them a year ago for their engagement session. Like their engagement session they were so warm and welcoming. We loved catching Liam lovingly admire his bride with a simple look.  Bri was a beautiful bride and did an amazing job planning her wedding. Guests traveled from all over the country to join in on their celebration.

The pair got married at St, Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica—the same church Bri’s parents wed in. Everyone was so friendly at the church and easy to work with. While the Monsignor delivered his service and the couple sat listening taking it in, we could see them exchanging looks of love and commitment. It was so sweet.

After the ceremony and the family photos, we headed to Palisades Park to get some portraits with the beautiful scenery. Tall palm trees line the walking path which is flanked by the ocean and provides a cool backdrop for photos. Meanwhile guests enjoyed themselves at cocktail hour serenaded by a mariachi band, sipping cocktails watching the boats in the marina.

The reception was at the California Yacht Club—a fitting venue since Liam is a Naval Nuclear Officer Candidate. It was fun listening to Liam throw out his boat knowledge and quiz Bri on the facts he's been teaching her. Just as the sun was setting we snuck out for more photos. We were able to walk out onto docks among the sailboats which made for a cool wedding portrait setting, with the reception venue at their backs.

The couple met at the University of Notre Dame, so there were lots of sports fans at the wedding and the toasts were full of laughs.  There were many highlights from their reception, but our favorites were the flash mob and garter toss.  Bri surprised everyone with a flash mob dance, showing off her moves to Liam who joined in at the end. For the Garter Toss, Liam took the tradition of removing the garter from his bride very seriously. Using rope they set up a boxing ring with Bri at one corner and Liam at the other. Complete with mouth gaurd and warm-up pushups, he quickly won his challenge and removed the garter successfully. When dancing began, the floor filled up quickly and everyone had a great time! When it was time to go the couple made their exit walking through a line of glow sticks with a dip and a kiss.

Thank you Bri and Liam for having us photograph your perfect wedding. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
