Stepping into the ladies getting ready room at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach we could feel the excitement of the day. The girls set the atmosphere with decorative flowers pinned to the wall and balloons ready for photos! The balloons were a great idea and a fun addition to the getting ready photos. They gave us the opportunity to shoot the girls being playful and natural!

Many couples prefer to see each other for the first time when the bride walks down the aisle. This is perfectly understandable, but you have other options for first looks too. Catherine did a first look with her bridesmaids.

The boys were easy going and up for anything.  We love the Rooftop Lounge at the Hilton Waterfront. It provided the perfect spot for All Because He Asked Wedding Videography to capture a drone shot of the guys having a pre-ceremony cocktail, as well as full views of the venue and beach.  

Joining the guys during portraits, was Connor and Catherine’s friendly German Shepard-Lab mix Zo. He tagged along and jumped in photos, a perfect member of the family. Three years old and very special to Catherine and Connor, Zo took part in the ceremony as well. After Connor walked down the aisle with his parents, he circled back to walk down the aisle with Zo who wore a collar decorated with flowers.  Adding your furry friends is always a cute addition to ceremonies when the venue allows it.

Catherine is naturally gorgeous and as we expected, as a bride she was stunning walking down the aisle. She wore a lace and tulle dress with a sheer bodice that complimented her figure. Connor wore a dark grey suit, and black bowtie while his groomsmen stood beside him in light grey and his dad, a Pasteur and their officiant wore blue.

After the ceremony we took family photos then headed down to the beach with the couple for some Mr and Mrs sunset shots. The wedding was timed perfectly; we had beautiful light for the portraits, and the Huntington Beach sunset did not disappoint.  When possible we highly suggest keeping sunset in mind when scheduling your wedding day.

Connor and Catherine have amazing families, and made clear by the heart felt toasts so many people who love them. Catherine shares a tight bond with her mom so instead of the traditional father daughter dance she did a mother daughter dance which was super sweet. We think one of the most important things to remember when you are getting married is…it’s your day! There are no hard set of wedding rules you have to follow; you can make your wedding your own.
