We met Cheryl and Jonathan last year when we shot their engagement photos. They are such a lovely couple we knew their wedding day would be super special! They opted for an intimate ceremony and ended up after a last minute change at the Lavender Marketplace in Sierra Madre. The venue is a beautiful, peaceful property with endless photo backdrops. The property includes a European Conservatory, two adorable cottages and beautiful gardens. In addition to weddings and events the couple who own the property host several arts and crafts workshops including ceramics, and marbling.
Leading up to the first look Jonathan worked hard to make sure the setting was perfect for his bride. He hung the flowers and set up the decor. The flowers were a beautiful mix of red and oranges which pop in all the photos. Without reaching out and touching them we would have never known they were all silk; this means, Cheryl will be able to keep her wedding bouquet forever. Maybe it will be the perfect dining room centerpiece.
Jonathan and Cheryl met in the green house for the first look. The moment was serene, and Jon had a chance to take the moment all in; seeing his beautiful bride and the rest of his life in front of him.
Following the first look Cheryl and Jon did a Chinese Tea Ceremony via zoom. Most of Cheryl and Jon’s family and friends including their parents could not attend the wedding due to Covid and being over seas; so, Jamie was there from All Because He Asked to conduct an interactive live streamed zoom of the special day. The Chinese tea ceremony is traditionally conducted on the day of the wedding and sees the bride and the groom serve tea to their parents, in-laws, and other family members. Symbolizing the union of two families, it is a meaningful part of the wedding day.
Like the Chinese tea ceremony, the wedding ceremony was live streamed to all of Cheryl and Jon’s family and friends. Their bridal party walked down the aisle remotely and even Cheryl’s dad was able to give her away live. Cheryl and Jon said their "I do’s”, then made it official with the first kiss since their engagement.
Following the ceremony Cheryl and Jon chatted on Zoom with their approximately 75 guests and snapped screen shots of their Zoom guests. After saying their good byes to the guests, and sending their onsite guests off with a tasty cupcake party favor, we headed off to take portraits around the property.
Following their wedding night stay at one of the cottages at the Lavender Marketplace, Cheryl and Jon will fly to Taiwan to spend to two months vacationing and visiting their family! Thank you Cheryl and Jon we know you will live happily ever after!
